PINK RIBBON DAY – PINK SURAT CAMPAIGN – OCTOBER 2010
- Surat was the Pink city of World on this day.
- 1st time in the history of the world 100 buildings / monuments illuminated in Pink
- 600 Auto Rickshaws participated in the drive.
- 2000 girls from Wadia Women’s College, Surat also participated.
On 25th October 2010, Surat became the pink city of the world. 25th October is celebrated as a Breast Cancer Awareness Day / Pink Ribbon Day. Hearts@work foundation, funded, organized and supported this cause by illuminating 100 prominent buildings / monuments (government and non-government) in Surat.
Even in developed countries like US or the Booming Middle Eastern Country of UAE, they illuminate the White House (Washington) and Burj Al-Khalifa (the tallest tower in the world), nowhere in the world have any organization done this extensive awareness on Pink Ribbon Day and in none of the cities worldwide were 100 buildings illuminated to bring awareness of the life snatching breast cancer.
Hearts@work roped in 600 auto rickshaws too who would carry pink balloons and banners to spread the awareness. 2000 girls from Wadia Women’s college also participated. This activity also attracted attention from the world renowned Harvard University, as the only City and that too in Asia marking the Pink Ribbon Day at such a large scale.
