‘WORLD FOREST DAY AND WORLD WATER DAY’ WAS CELEBRATED IN SURAT IN A UNIQUE AND FIRST OF ITS KIND WAY IN INDIA.
The whole world is talking about Environmental Protection, Energy Conservation and Climate Change at large. Be it in Paris or summit in Quetta, everywhere there is a buzz related to the environment and every country is passing the buck to the other and holding the other responsible for the deterioration of Earth.
In the above scenario, there is this Small Medium Enterprise namely ZENITEX, in the developing city of Surat of Gujarat State in India. This is not the first time Zenitex is in the news for their energy conservation, green energy and environmental protection initiatives. Zenitex is the holder of The Best Industry Award given by Gujarat Government for three consecutive years. Not only this they have also won the National Energy Conservation Award for three consecutive years. Apart from this, the CEO of Zenitex, Mr. Viral Desai has won a number of awards as the Best Entrepreneur and Rising Entrepreneur. Under the leadership of Mr. Viral Desai, ZENITEX celebrated the ‘World Forest Day & World Water Day’ ZENITEX by conducting the field trip (which is a part of the syllabus) for students of DR. S. & S. S. GHANDHY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, SURAT and ZENITEX, SURAT, on 22nd March 2016.
This field trip is in the news for all the good reasons. The most important of them being the awareness created towards saving the Environment and planting of trees. To encourage the students, and make them a part of the ‘Go Green” world campaign. A Tree Plantation event was also executed at Zenitex campus. More than 30 trees were planted on the campus of Zenitex. These trees were planted by the visiting students and the faculty Mr. Ramesh G. Patel H.O.D. Textile Processing Department and Lecturer Mr. Pavan Panwala of the College. This inculcated in them the need of Trees and brought them close to Nature and thus they pledged their support for the ‘Go Green’ world campaign and promised that they will themselves be actively involved in such activities and will also encourage their fellow students and friends to be a part of this Green Brigade which will help us ‘Save The Earth’.
This was a unique and first of its kind field visit in India. Wherein, a routine part of the syllabus field trip by college students was amalgamated with Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation initiatives.
The whole activity was designed in such a way that firstly they were taken across the processing plant and along with it they were educated about various techniques implemented by Zenitex for ‘Water Conservation’ and ‘Energy Conservation’. For Water Conservation we have implemented ‘Rain Water Harvesting’; ‘Drip Irrigation’; ‘Water Scrubber’ and ‘ETP’, and various measures and innovations have been implemented to Conserve Energy, like reduction in Carbon Emission, Using recycled water for production, reduction in use of Electricity inside the plant and on campus in general, and tree plantations in support of Environmental Protection and a Greener Future.
H.O.D. Mr. Ramesh G. Patel quoted that : “The trip was a mesmerizing experience for the students and us alike. It gives us great happiness to be visiting such an industry and fills us with pride for the industry hails from our city of Surat in the state of Gujarat in our beloved country India. This industry has implemented Energy Conservation techniques in most of its work process. Be it safety of workers, reduction of Carbon Emission, use of green energy such as wind mill generated electricity, reducing the use of electricity, recycling and reuse of waste water and rain water harvesting. Such initiatives and implementations we had only heard of in Multi-National companies and nowhere was it heard in India. That is the reason we were amused and surprised to see these things happening in our backyard.
Mr. Pavan Panwala further stated that “We at Dr. S. & S.S. Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology have discussed with the Management of Zenitex to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the benefits of the students at our college. There will be three major advantages for the students and later on to the community at large. First of all the students will be coming for their training to such an industry which is a pioneer in making the difference not only at India level but at world level for Energy Conservation, Environmental Protection and Green cover initiatives. Secondly, the students will get the rich experience of working under the leadership of Mr. Viral Desai, CEO-Zenitex who is a highly successful entrepreneur with an array of National and State Awards and even International recognition. And thirdly, when we saw the social responsibility and community welfare activities done by Zenitex in the field of health awareness especially the fight against cancer and awareness for cancer camps, employment, and youth empowerment, we believe that in coming together with Zenitex for their Social Responsibility and Community Welfare activities / camps not only will the students participate in a good cause but along with it they will also get inspired to do their part of giving back to the society in which we thrive. He also had a good word for the General Manager Mr. Bhavik Naik along with Mr. K. C. Sahoo Chief Engineer and Mr. Mohammed Nasir, P.A. to Mr. Viral Desai and other staff members who gelled with them and displayed their fierce passion for the philosophies of Mr. Viral Desai CEO, Zenitex on which the industry runs and admired their work ethics”
Finally before leaving the campus once again the students met Mr. Viral Desai, CEO-Zenitex in his office, who had a few words of inspiration and wisdom to charge the tempo of the bright students. Mr. Viral Desai, advised them to be humble and true to their duties and responsibilities and put their heart in to everything they do and success will surely follow. In the end he told them that “If you take care of Nature – Nature has its own unique way of giving back in abundance” and hence, appealed to them to take care of Nature and keep on growing more and more trees and to Save Water so that it lasts for us a little longer.
Thanks & Regards

Etched In The Memory –
The enthusiasm and zeal displayed by the visiting students is etched in our memories. The way they were happy while planting the trees showed that deep inside every human there is a feeling that they are connected to nature. And it gave us encouragement that if we keep on doing such plantations, we will succeed in changing the world green.
